Isaac “Ike” Cajka
Isaac has been working on bicycles since he could nick his dad’s adjustable wrench from his toolbox. He has worked for a couple of big name bike shops in SW PA for close to 9 years and has spent many more years volunteering in community spaces. IBBS maintans a policy of doing “Free Mechanical Support” events through out the year so everyone in the econmic spectrum has access to service.
Ike is married to a wonderful librarian and they have a dynamite of kid who loves to ride his Strider in the local skatepark.
The Shop – About IBBS
As a resident of the Monongahela valley region, Ike has seen the need for people to have access to a shop that can handle their needs at a reasonable price. The communities east of Pittsburgh are incredibly underserviced, even though some of the best bike trails in the nation runs through them. Not everyone in the area can afford to get the in-town shops and handle their prices. Even though we have moved to Westmoreland County, the same issues are here too. So the idea of IBBS was born from the notion that we can get everyone, from all walks of life, rolling again. Please understand we have limited space, time and capacity. We wish we could fix everyone’s bike.
About IBBS
IBBS has five pillars that guide how we do business:
That is the most common statement I hear when I ask someone why they don't take their bike(s) to a corporate owned shops in the city. With basic tune ups starting over $100.00 a bike, most folks cant swing it. So a family of bikes sit unused and missed.
Big Name Shops have large stores to keep lit, inventory to cover and (hopefully) employees that are paid well for their expertise. While that may work in the wealthier neighborhoods and larger cities, not everyone can do their prices or even get to those shops.
Not everyone is a high income family but they should not be deprived of quality services at reasonable prices for the things they want to enjoy. Especially bicycles. Bikes are liberation for many, the way to get to work for some and a lifestyle for many more
I've worked in the Big Name Shops for years and got my training from them. It's time I put them to use as a reliable and affordable option for my community. I'm keeping pricing low and focused on services, not sales of products. You already have the bike. Let's get you rolling again.
